The question may be asked whether each of the ethnic
nations constitute a definite culture area. The answer of course varies with
time. In the days of infrequent contacts among the different ethnic nations it
was true to a considerable extent that the area occupied by each ethnic group
was then a distinct culture area. As pointed out previously the - inhabitants of
each of such culture area shared the same historical back-ground, language,
religion philosophy, political institutions and economy among other things. They
also jealously preserved their cultural heritage even at the cost of feuds and
wars
